I would like to start this post telling how I become the first one to review this monstrous Canon 800mm f/5.6L IS USM but I didn't. Instead I red this great review by The-Digital-Picture.com and wanted you not to miss it too.
Canon 800mm f/5.6L IS USM is the most expensive lens in the Canon lens line-up except the 1200mm f/5.6 (I am not sure if Canon is wtill producing this lens so probably first you have to find someone who owns it and then convince him to sell it), though it is not the heaviest. 800mm f/5.6L weighs 4,5 kg (9,9 lbs), whereas 400mm f/2.8L weighs 5.,370 kg (11,8 lbs.) and the 600mm f/4L weighs 5.,360 kg (11,8 lbs.).
Well you better read this in-depth review of the Canon 800mm f/5.6L IS USM here and enjoy! And leave me alone here in misery with my 18-70mm... |

UPDATE 1-Finally I got my 18-270mm VC in my hands! This lens is amazing, optically better then Tamron 18-250mm and Nikon 18-200mm VR. Even better, VC (Vibration Compensation) is very effective(up to 4-stops advantage)! My Nikkor 18-200mm VR is going...
Update 2- August 2011: Currently, there is a $150 discount (mail-in rebate) for Tamron 18-270mm VC on Amazon. For only $479, you can't get a more versatile lens
Tamron keeps on surprising DSLR users with its ultra-zoom lenses with performance levels that once was never though to be possible. Tamron 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 since its first introduction has become one of the most versatile lens (13.8x zoom)for APS-C DSLR cameras while offering image quality that is competing with zoom lenses with less magnification ratios. Surely it has some drawbacks like being slow on the long side, chromatic aberrations in certain situations, etc. but overall I think it is a perfect all-round lens.
Now Tamron takes the ultra-zoom DSLR lenses to next level with the new AF 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical (IF) Macro, taking the world record once again with the 15X zoom, and adding its Vibration Compensation system (VC) in to the game, making it even more attractive for Canon and Nikon users whose bodies lack sensor based Image stabilization.

Order Tamron AF 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical (IF) Macro for Nikon (Best Price)

We just have another proof now that confirming how close the launch of the new Nikon D90 is. A Best Buy employee took a photo of the computer screen showing the Nikon D90 & 18-105 VR Nikkor lens combo in Best Buy inventory, with the same price ($1.299,0) that was witnessed by a Circuit City employee. Albeit the quantity in their inventory and in transit is 0 according to the screenshot, I guess it would take no more than 2 weeks to see the D90 on the shelves.

Today nikonrumors.com posted what could be the first photo of long-waited Nikon D90. even though the source of the photo is unknown yet, I have to say that this one looks real to me ( but I never underestimate the things that a talented and dedicated photoshopper can do). Some of the details like microphone for video recording, GPS port and HDMI ouput also proves Thom Hogan who couple of days ago claimed that the new D90 would have video recording feature with sound.
Here is the photo of the new Nikon D90 taken from Nikonrumors.com: |

Nikon has anoounced the Coolpix P6000, its new flagship compact digital camera with a built-in GPS feature which logs the locations at where the photos are taken. Some other features of P6000 are a 13.5 megapixel CCD, a 4x wide angle-zoom lens( (28 - 112 mm equiv.), NRW RAW format and a Wired LAN port. The new P6000 is expected to start shipping in September for around $500.

Nikon guru Thom Hogan claims that the new Nikon D90, replacement for the D80, will feature a video recording (with sound) ability which no other DSLR offers so far. Frankly speaking, I would expect this kind of feature to be announced with an entry-level Nikon that will address to P&S camera owners who are willing to upgrade to a DSLR but don't want to compromise the video recording feature. Anyway, this feature may become a big selling point for D90, even I can consider one if the recording quality is decent.
Other features of Nikon D90 according to Thom Hogan:
- 12 megapixels CMOS sensor
- 4.5 fps shooting speed
- HDMI connection
- GPS connection
And he also says that a new kit lens will be announced and bundled with D90: 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G DX VR (28-150mm equivalent on 35mm) which would be a good cheap alternative to famous Nikon 18-200 VR and answer to the users who complain about the lack of entry level VR lenses in the Nikon line-up.

Noise Ninja, one of the most effective solution in my opinion for removing noise and grain from digital images is now available as a plug-in for Apple's Aperture software. This widely used noise removal software was previously available as a stand-alone application and Adobe Photoshop plug-in. The Aperture plug-in version of Noise Ninja allows Aperture users to take advantage of powerful noise reduction technology without having to leave Aperture.

For more information, and to download the plug-in, visit the Apple website:
